Margaret founded Aldercrest Law in 2013 after a decade of practice at Fredrikson & Byron, P.A. and Lathrop GPM LLP, two of the largest law firms in the Upper Midwest. At those firms she represented clients in complex estate plans, multi-generational wealth transfers, contested probate proceedings, and high-value commercial real estate transactions.
She started Aldercrest Law to build the kind of practice she believed clients deserved: one where the attorney who signs the engagement letter is the attorney who does the work. Over the past twelve years she has drafted hundreds of estate plans, administered dozens of estates, and closed commercial and residential real estate transactions throughout the Twin Cities metro.
Margaret is a frequent speaker at continuing legal education seminars on Minnesota probate procedure and estate tax planning. She has been recognized by Super Lawyers magazine as a Rising Star (2015–2018) and selected to the Minnesota Super Lawyers list (2021–2025).
David joined Aldercrest Law in 2016 and was named partner in 2020. Before joining the firm, he spent four years at Briggs & Morgan, P.A. (now Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP), where he focused on business litigation, employment disputes, and commercial contracts.
At Aldercrest, David serves as lead counsel on all business formation, employment, and commercial litigation matters. He regularly advises small and mid-sized businesses on entity selection, shareholder agreements, non-compete enforcement, severance negotiations, and trade-secret protection. He has successfully tried cases in Ramsey, Hennepin, Dakota, and Washington County District Courts and before the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.
David is a volunteer instructor with SCORE Minnesota, where he teaches quarterly workshops on legal considerations for small-business owners. He is conversational in Mandarin Chinese and serves clients in both English and Mandarin.
Sara joined Aldercrest Law in 2023 following a two-year clerkship with the Honorable Judge Peter M. Reyes, Jr. at the Minnesota Court of Appeals. During her clerkship she researched and drafted opinions in over seventy civil and family law cases, developing a thorough understanding of Minnesota's appellate standards of review.
At Aldercrest, Sara handles family law matters — including dissolution, custody, child support modifications, and domestic abuse proceedings — as well as civil litigation and appellate advocacy. She brings a detail-oriented, research-driven approach to every case, and her appellate background gives the firm a distinct advantage in preserving the trial record and framing issues for appeal when necessary.
Sara is a board member of the Minnesota Vietnamese American Bar Association and a volunteer attorney with the Volunteer Lawyers Network's Family Law Clinic. She is fluent in Vietnamese.
